Microsoft 365 Sharing Permissions
Here are some ways to change file sharing permissions in Microsoft 365:
-
Change permissions for a shared document
Select Share, then Link settings, and choose the desired permissions. You can choose from Anyone with the link, People in your organization, People with existing access, or Specific people. You can also choose whether to allow editing.
-
Change permissions for a folder
Right-click on the folder, select Properties or Sharing Permissions, and then click the Permissions tab. You can add a person by selecting their name from the address list and clicking Add. You can then select the appropriate permissions from the Permission Level drop-down list.
-
Change permissions for a public folder
Right-click on the folder in the Folder Pane, select Properties, and then choose a permissions level from the Permissions tab.
-
Change permissions for a file shared in a Teams chat
Click the icon to change permissions, and then choose who can have access to the document. You can choose from People in the chat or Specific people.
If a sharing option is grayed out, your business admins may have restricted it.
